I wish I knew how to use photoshop

My skills aren't great, but I thought I would try to colorize the pics of the other house to match the brick we are going to get. This is pretty close in shade, but our brick is a bit more uniform. The door looks even worse, but amy wanted me to give it a try. We are extending the garage out 5 feet, so our front yard is going to be a little bit bigger, and it is more flat, with bigger trees up front.

It may be a little out of date, but in '96 our lot looked something like this.

Pictures Library

I will be putting up the extra photos here if we don't have a better place for them. There are a couple more pics of the lot, another house with our brick on it, and a bunch of photos of a house with a similar floorplan.

So you think you're going to visit...

If you are coming to visit, we thought we should show you what you will be sleeping on:
.
JUST KIDDING! That is the taupe carpet that will be installed throughout the dry areas of the house. We promise to provide you with a real bed when you come to visit for a nominal fee...your good company.

Every good home begins with a place for Good Eats

Here are some samples of the materials that will be used in our kitchen.

I don't have a link to the floor tile yet, but I can give you a verbal description now. The floor tile is 13x13" ceramic tile that looks very close to slate. The grout will be charcoal.

There will be an undermounted stainless sink, stainless faucet, and stainless appliances (gas range & dishwasher). We are thinking of putting up a stainless backsplash after we move in. Is that too much? We were unable to get a corian backsplash installed so if you have any other recommendations, please comment.

We haven't picked out a refrigerator so any advice there is welcomed as well.

The third pig built his home out of...

We chose "Cherry Hill" brick from Acme Co. as the exterior covering for our new home.

Some reasons we chose brick:

  • Brick is low maintenance.
  • 95% of the homes in Austin are brick or stone.
  • Brick will help our home stand up to midwestern tornados and an occasional wolf's puff.

Here is the square of mud where the wigwam will be built.

Most of the cedar trees in the front will be replaced with our driveway (located on the right side of the lot). Maybe the builders will save a few to ward off moths and people with cedar allergies.
